Incorporated in October of 1992 and classified as a 501 (C) (3) tax exempt organization, the Tidewater Winds operates on an annual budget of approximately $200,000. The largest expense in this budget is actual cost of presenting our concerts which includes compensation to our conductor and our professional musicians. Operating expenses for our office and staff located at 9625 Granby Street in Norfolk make up only 19% of the budget. Our staff includes the Conductor/Music Director, Executive Director, Business/Operations Manager, and Band Librarian.
To balance this budget, the Winds solicits and receives annual grants from area Fine Arts Commissions and various foundations, but contributions from individual benefactors and local businesses are our largest source of income, comprising 51% of our funding.
The Board of Directors is seeking to expand the support of the Tidewater Winds by finding qualified individuals to serve on the Board. In addition, the Board seeks and always welcomes financial contributions from interested patrons.
